A complex ecommerce setup limiting speed and global growth

66°North was operating on a complex Commercetools setup that had become expensive and difficult to maintain.

The platform limited speed flexibility and merchandising across markets while development and daily operations required significant internal and external resources. With global ambitions and a clear revenue growth target the existing setup no longer supported the brands next phase.

A simplified Shopify platform built for scale and operations

We led a full discovery and replatforming process from Commercetools to Shopify Plus. The collaboration started with stakeholder interviews and mapping of business processes operations and technical architecture resulting in a clear ecommerce blueprint for the next three to five years. We also ran a full wireframe design process to define structure user flows and key ecommerce experiences across markets.

Based on this foundation we designed a simplified and scalable Shopify setup using native functionality where possible while supporting complex backend operations through bespoke integrations. This included a custom integration to 66°Norths ERP and PIM systems managing product inventory and price updates.

We defined the Shopify Markets strategy aligned global and regional requirements and executed the migration across UX and UI data content integrations and tracking followed by end to end testing training and a controlled go live.
